Introducing a new way to directly help people in need in the High Country.
Elk River Helping Hands is unique in that it provides expedited emergency relief directly to individuals in the HigCountry who have incurred a devastating event, including but not limited to residents of Avery and Watauga Counties in North Carolina and Carter County in Tennessee.
Elk River Helping Hands was introduced in August of 2024. Of course, soon after our inception, the devasting storm, Hurricane Helene, struck our area. No other event in the history of the High Country left so many individuals and families devastated beyond belief. The loss of life, homes, jobs and much more have left people struggling to cope with their new normal.
Due to the our excellent relationships with first responders and community leaders in our region, we continue to hear stories about local individuals and families impacted by unfathomable circumstances that leave them shattered physically, emotionally, and financially.
We are committed to our mission and the strong and resilient people of our community. We invite you to join us in this mission by spreading the word to your friends, family, and other charitable organizations. We also ask that you consider making a contribution to help fund our mission of helping High Country residents who find themselves in crisis situations.
