Elk River Helping Hands is unique in that it provides expedited emergency financial relief for individuals in the High Country who are facing crises. we focus primarily on residents of Avery and Watauga Counties in North Carolina and Carter County in Tennessee, but we can also provide assistance to residents of other High Country counties.
Elk River Helping Hands was introduced in August of 2024. Of course, almost immediately thereafter, Hurricane Helene struck the High Country. No other event in history has left so many High Country individuals and families so devastated. The loss of life, homes, jobs and much more continues to leave people struggling to cope with crises emanating from this catastrophe.
Due to the our excellent relationships with first responders and community leaders in our region, as well as referrals from other sources, we continue to learn of individuals and families who have been impacted by a variety of unfathomable circumstances that leave them shattered physically, emotionally, and financially.
We are committed to our mission to assist High Country residents who are facing extremely difficult circumstances. We invite you to join us in this mission by making a contribution to Elk River Helping Hands. Please see the "Donations" section of this website for information on the various ways that you can contribute and help us help others.
